A modern Gannon (silverbelly with charcoal ribbon) went out to lunch with me.

Good looking hat, Mike. I love it when a vintage hat turns up as good as new like that.Mallory Aristocrat back bow c1958 today. Trying to get the "closet collection" some wear before the weather turns. Love the felt on this one, very smooth. The ribbon still has the basting stitches from the retailer, like new!

Very nice, Mike. I really like the shape and colour of that one.Two hat day. Taking time out from set building at the theater to attend the International Student Dinner at church. Knox Premier Strat Clone will be casual enough for the the event.

Supposedly 20-30 mph wind showing up later today so will no doubt be moving to a cap then.

Hope you are surviving your Monday,

That is a gorgeous colour indeed, Jim. I suppose you could move the whole ribbon a quarter turn and the back bow would be on the side like normal fedora.Dittos on what I said to Matt. I love seeing the ORs in different shades.
I came this close (holds thumb and forefinger very close together) to putting this hat on eBay last week. It's a great hat, but I'd convinced myself it fit funny (it's a wide oval), but it really doesn't. I'm wishy-washy on the back bow, and the ribbon width limits the pinches I put in. Well, I spent some quality time with it yesterday, steaming, brushing, and reshaping. I took out the diamond, ironed out the ghosts, gave it a good steambath and brushed out the nap. It's such a great color, and I do like it, but I'm still flirting with a ribbon change out. It's the only Resistol dress felt I own, and I would hate to give up my only hat from Paducah!!

Still looks great. These well worn hats have a charm of their own. Good one, matt.Meandered by the house a while ago and picked up a light felt that I tend to neglect:
Lee Adventure. It's factory creased and saw lots of use from its prior owner. It came to me with an aftermarket sweat. And the printing on the onionskin liner tip is just about illegible.

If the liner tip were in good shape, it would look kind of like this:

But with different color print, I reckon.

Outstanding hat and great find, Steve.R. & M. Wegener possibly late 1920s. The felt has a very soft hand and airy lightness. My only pre 1940 Wegener Soft Felt so a rare find.

Color doesn't photograph too well in this morning's sun. This one from a month or two back is more on point.
That a terrific Tuesday.![]()
