I agree. That Carhartt is a nice jacket and the embroidery is part of its blue collar work wear history.

Michael, if you don' like the embroidery you could leave it and sew a patch over it instead. I think, for example, a subdued 'SWAT' type Stars & Stripes, or a army subdued green flag would look good, something like that.

Like Butte, I don't mind some history embroidered on a jacket, but that one is to bright and distracting. I had something like it once, and took a black marker to the bright yellow embroidery to give it a more subtle effect. You could still remove it after that if you want.

Just a heads up, my local Goodwill is shifting the fall/winter jackets and coats onto the floor today. After a summer long absence. I picked up/wasted my money on (opinions may differ) this one today.

Cotton duck, side adjuster straps, bi-swing, corduroy collar, blanket lining, made in the USA and sized a 38R. I'm thinking about waxing it and pairing it with my waxed cotton pants for my cool weather briar and burr proof woods walking/mushroom hunting outfit.

Such a great jacket, and looks so good on you! Just my opinion, but I'd keep everything just as it is. I'm on the side of keeping those embroidered patches - part of the jacket history, and seems to be genuine "working man" patches, rather than some random stuff slapped on just to make things look cool.

Uh, actually it's 5am in the captain's crew room at the main terminal and the crews are donning their inflatable life vests to climb out onto the rickety, dark, slippery piers where all the boats are moored to start our day. Oh yeah, and did I mention how much I'm loving this Excelled G-1? Amazing grain! Thick yet supple steerhide. Heavy duty brass zip. Super soft fur collar (feels exactly like mouton). Really feels like a work jacket, not a luxury item.

I can't post any either and I couldn't for the past three months. 95º yesterday, today and tomorrow which seems mild after 10 days of a constant 110º+.

One of these from 1982. It's 42 degrees Fahrenheit. The Bluey - when I was growing up in the 1970's up until the early 1990's the bluey was the most common and celebrated Australian work coat. They were worn by all tradesmen and by railway workers and linesmen. Often issued by government and companies. Now you don't see them anymore and workers wear awful but safer hi vis nylon ****.

This isn't my photo but a good example. Mine looks exactly the same. They also came in black and brown. They are like the British Donkey jacket but unlike those they never had leather shoulders.
