Super girlfriend unfortunately also has a super effective BS meter (that freakin' thing will beep at the slightest obfuscation).

In addition to every attempt at "rebranding" of alcohol having failed ("but think about all the tomato juice in the ****** Mary or the fresh lemons and mineral water in a Tom Collins -" BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, "nope, they are all just cocktails"), my attempts to classify a slice of fruit cake as a fruit-and-vegetable serving or chocolate-dipped candied oranges as the same have all been met with a BEEP, BEEP, BEEP from her always-on B.S. meter.

Cored jalapeño peppers filled with cheese & bacon bits, & grilled in the Chile grill in the oven. Nacho cheese Doritos while watching the game. Goes better with tequila that popcorn does!

I respect a man who doesn't screw around with his snacks. Those jalapeño things sound awesome. Does Touch of Evil know about them - the bacon bits would probably be in his wheel house?

This is really a what "will" you be snacking in around Christmas-time post.

First, to dispense with some business: if you hate fruitcake, that's cool, I don't mind at all and have no interest in changing your mind.

But if you love them, then the below should get your attention.

Super Girlfriend is making about eleven fruitcakes this year using four different recipes and soaking them in four different alcohols.

All are now baked and have been put to bed in booze-soaked cheesecloth to be fed alcohol weekly until Christmas.

Three are very old school - dark, spicy, think Dickens Christmas / one is a more modern, golden batter

1) Tawny Port - this is the one pictured below

2) Gosling's Black Rum

3) Dewar's White Label

4) Courvoisier





And now soaking in more port, wrapped in cheesecloth.

I purposely paced myself. That said, as Xmas candy will soon be cascading in (I love the booze-filled chocolate Santas our friends the Germans have perfected), I need to clear the decks.

Plus, Super Girlfriend - in addition to a plethora of booze-soaked fruitcakes - will be baking many type of cookies (my brain is practically shutdown thinking about the first snowball cookie and all that wonderful powdered sugar), panettone, ginger bread and, always, some new tryouts. I can't wait.
