Not a collar but a collar box,( contents came with it) almost mint and English made with watered silk lining c 1920's?

This is for sliding in collar studs and the two tubes either side of the slot are for collar bars/pins and or cravat pins.
Any idea whast the rear ******** the box was for?

By the looks of it, I'd say it's a travel case, so maybe the strap is meant to secure it to luggage, etc.

Could be, I did wonder that myself re the strap...its a soft case so travel case would figure especially since it has space for studs and pins.

When I picked it up I wasn't all that sure that it was that old the condition was almost too good, but construction, stitching, press stud and adverts for similar items are all around the 1920's period!

That's a smashing find! I love the details for the collar studs and collar pins. I don't think it would have occurred to me that that was what that was for! That lining is in good nick too - even rarer! Usually there's some moisture stains or something like that.

The lining is very good Eddie only a couple of light stains and as it's a keeper I'm not too bothered, other than that condition is extremely good indeed!
I've seen a nigh on identical one on a London vintage showroom site in Croc or alligator around the £800 mark!

Phew! Very good find indeed then! I can imagine stuff like this got bought for someone as a birthday or father's day present and never got used. I can't imagine there were all that many ordinary working men did a lot of travelling, nor even a lot of middle class men!
