and using the vintage era time to help do it too. I always liked it in my younger days.

I am all for a business becoming a success, no matter what. I do however wonder if this beer is going to taste like old radiator water brewed through someone's ashtray? Not sure if a acquired taste for Schlitz is required to enjoy it, or just my taste buds are weirdo...but as I do recall, the first time I tasted it, was the last time I tasted it. Reminded me of beer made on the back floor of a Desoto......
Your taste buds were not wrong if you tried Schlitz back in the mid-late 60s. They started skimping on ingredients and it was the beginning of the end. This time supposedly they are using original ingredients. It was a very nice hops beer, I hope it will be again.
Found it being sold not too far away. I'll get a bottle and return with an opinion.
That would have been about the time I tasted it. Maybe later? They used to have some other very weirdo beer here in Michigan I just cannot recall the name...but they would show one of the big Caddillac plants down town Detroit and the steam coming up from a man hole cover and then brag about their beer being "fired brewed".....I have to tell you that stuff was not fired brewed...but should have been. NASTY oh my lord it was so nasty you could kill rats and other small animals with it. You would not see any stray dogs or cats anywhere they sold that "stuff"!
Being from 'across' the pond I seek out and love American brewed beers. those so called American beers that are available in the UK aren't. They are brewed by a company called intbrew, they mass produce nearly all the named brews, which all taste and look the same. including the once famous British brews! I used to enjoy a real Schlitz. happy days.

I on the other hand enjoy british beer to American. American beer have too much preservatives in the ingredients. Carlsberg Special Brew for lager and McEwan's Pale 80 for darker. A Black and Tan in Ireland or a Killkenny but I think that was discontinued.
Yep..it was the malt stuff...nasty nasty nasty....Is possible you're thinking of Schlitz Malt Liquor rather then Schlitz Beer? The former is truly one of the most vile and discussing brews I've ever had, even by malt liquor standards. The Schlitz Beer that has recently become available again isn't that bad, although it isn't that good either. It's flavor is better than lite beers, but basically exactly what you'd expect from an American lager like Pabst, Olympia, Miller High Life, Budweiser , Coor's, etc.
No...I don't mean some 3.2 beer from WWII in a rusty can....
What about the one beer, ale...it had mostly red on the label? Really had a heavy head if you got on tap?
Hi
When I moved to OKC back in 2012, Schlitz had made a comeback. When it first came out in the old 1950's recipe, it was great AND it cost less than Budweiser. After six months or so, it became a "boutique" beer and was a dollar a six pack more than Bud. I haven't bought any since, it ain't THAT good.
Blatz was o.k., Stag is back and is also o.k., but the WORST was Joesph Heilemann's Old Style and Premium Beer ($4.39 a case in 1979). They invented the beer face. :eeek: eeek was a close as I could get...
Later
3.2 lived long after WWII, I was having to drink it in 1965 at Ft Gordon Ga.
