You can't describe something as a 'Hairy Porkpie'! There are some people around here who will be sniggering for hours!

sniggering? I can't believe its a British English thing but hey i'm in Maine and our local accent is closer to our English and Cornish roots so it would make sense that some terms survived. To snigger is like a half suppressed laugh.
