This is almost my size. I wish it was just a bit larger.

that's exactly what puts me off this type of coat. it's getting into monocle, silver-topped cane and spats territory. the dandy-eccentric line is one i don't cross.
works for some though.

I don't know. Wearing nearly one hundred years old clothing or tailored replicas of the style as your day to day clothing is probably way beyond the dandy-eccentric line for most people in our society.

also, you go down that route and you need a 1900 house decorated with Victorian decadante furniture, objet d'arts and taxidermy... the cost goes through the roof !

Yes, that's pretty much my dream overcoat, with mink or rabbit to line the rest of it. Totally unsuited to British winters, though. Even in the North, it doesn't get cold enough these days.

Now I know why I want the coat. It would match the house!

For me, a coat like that is less of a dandy item. I think it comes back to my interest in central and eastern Europe, where such coats were more prevalent than in western europe. But agreed, it would take some balls to wear it shopping in my local Tesco.
