What is your favorite Scotch Whisky?

I prefer bourbon--no, I love bourbon. A distant second is Irish. When I do drink scotch, and admittedly it's not that often, it is always Oban.

I am the complete opposite. I hate bourbon. Love Scotch and Irish whiskies.

Just been given a bottle of 15 yr old Dalwhinnie, as a present. I would normally go for a peaty Laphroaig, but a nice single malt bought by someone else, does hit the spot!

Anyone tried Black Bottle, 10yr. old? It's recently been discontinued (they still make the standard blend, though) but you might be able to find it still if you're lucky. It's a blend of Islay malts and is absolutely fantastic! Peaty, but not overbearingly so. I bought up the last 5 bottles I could find and will save them for the future; maybe to drink, maybe to auction off some years down the road, who knows . . .

Enjoyed a rather lovely 16 year old Glen Grant last night. Had a sweet flavour that reminded me of concentrated pineapple juice!

I have some Glen Grant around but I don't remember how old it is. It is a decent scotch from what I remember though. I wouldn't have it around still if it weren't. :cheers1:

I've always been a bourbon drinker, but lately I've wanted to try out scotch. For fathers day I got a bottle of Chivas 18 year old blended and I found it smooth, but I just got a bottle of Glenfiddich 12 year old and I found it had a nice fruity flavor followed by a smokey flavor. I'm looking forward to trying different brands of scotch.
I still love bourbon...

Last night I reminded myself why I love the straightforward Talisker 10 so very much. It's starting to get cold and wet up here again and this dram perfectly spans the transition between the seasons. Once the winter gets going, I may have to break out the Talisker 57 degrees north too - Although certainly there will be some Ardbeg vying for attention, probably the rather cheekily-named Corryvreckan!

Carribean cask? I've not heard of it. Will certainly check it out though!

The Carribean Cask is just aged in a Cask that was previously used for rum. It gives a slight flavor to the scotch. A good one I should mention.

Ah! I had a smashing 21 year old Glenfiddich finished in Cuban Rum casks a long time ago. I'll certainly hunt down this Balvenie!

If I can get it here then you guys should have it running in drinking fountains around there.
Glenfiddich that old is starting to show its age in a not too good way. I suppose finishing them in rum casks might have ameliorated that effect.

For Springbank fans, I'd heartily recommend the Hazelburn Sauternes Wood. An outstanding dram of whisky, absolute nectar!
