Was für ein Stöffchen! What a nice fabric! For once a suit with long sleeves, just what I need. And then the shoulder width is too narrow. What a bummer!

How much can the waist be reduced?

After an eighteen-month effort, I have reduced my waist size from the 40" of this suit to 34". So, how much could the waist be reduced for the trousers of this suit" Is six inches too much to remove?

Yeah, if you take in a trousers waist that my h the rear pocket(s) end up too close to the center back seat.

Guttersnipe is right. Six inches is way too much. It's not only the pockets - the whole (rather complex) geometry of the pants would be ruined. I've learned that the hard way myself...

Anything more than more a 2-3 inch reduction would require the trousers to be recut. It's a pricey alteration and it doesn't always come out right.
