Not „Golden Era“ though already Vintage.
Only Problem with these Nikons is the grip and it's rubber. The rubber dissolves and gets really sticky, so it’s a huge mess to remove it completely and apply new rubber. But the big advantage with Nikons is that they were produced in large quantities, so there are aftermarket solutions available for them.

The only rubber on this body is that red stripe in the pic, the rest is leather. Those matte metal parts on top and bottom are just powdered.
These leather parts could be replaced with a lot of leather types meanwhile.

But I know what you mean. I once took a Leica APS body out of it’s case after a few years of not using it and it turned into a sticky lump of chewing gum…:D

Ah - Sorry - so was under the assumption that would be the same with that model, all my older AF analog ones like the F60/F90/F90x suffered from the glueing rubber...

Mmmh, no the F5 was a little later afaik.

The „reduced“ sibling to this would be the F100.

And i also remember well those „soft touch“ surfaces in many 90‘s cars that looked and felt pretty ****py after a few years. :D

Oh year that it is still a pain today - too many products try to mimic/ use "soft touch" - if that is being used on a product, I try to stay away from it...
