I saw it a while ago with some good company when it opened. Here's the previous thread about it.

It was "good", and supposedly a parallel universe to Casablanca

The Good German did not have one half the storyline of Casablanca. Keep in mind Casablanca was one of many films churned out by the studios at the time! This should tell you something about The Good German. A horrible book turned into a letdown of a "Noir homage" film.
