Flyfishark, it's embossed vinyl; the smooth parts are patent vinyl. These are either vintage Stacey Adams shoes or a like competitor.
Thanks, Marc. You are good! Not even having to see them in person. I was certain they were something screwy...and glad I didn't send them across the river! Thanks again, and anyone looking for a Halloween costume--see me.
Thanks! I'm not so good; I've just seen and handled identical ones in person.
Trust your eyes in this case. Perhaps they're leather, but covered with a vinyl laminate. In any case, what the world sees is their plastic surface.
These are from the 1930s. I sold them back in 2008.

One of your greatest (de)acquisitions ...
Thanks! They ended up going to Japan, as I recall.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style.
Just for comparison purposes, The Keith Highlanders were very beautifully made, but the Croc they used wasn't as nice as the American Alligator used in the Clapps & the Nettletons.
The Clapp was the best of the group, I think. Channeled soles, very clean stitching, and fabulous Gator skins. I recently got some Stetsons, and they seem to be made up to the Clapp standards.
