Shark Skin suit

I have a question. The material that makes up a Shark skin suit is that from the 50's or 60's? Is there another term for that type of fabric?

The fabric's still around today, albeit probably lighter. I'm not sure what exactly gives it its name, but a quick search on Wikipedia brings up that it's an even sided twill and not much else.
