At my last pot luck, I bought a $7 rotisserie chicken. I know you can get them cheaper if you shop around or cook them yourself, but I didn't have time.

I always look at the fact that folks are kind of picky or in some cases have dietary concerns and issues.... And let's not forget about youngins' who(would live on Mac & cheese and hotdogs if we let them)[huh] tend to pick at their food, leaving most of it wasted.
Therefore I would agree with the Scalloped taters and ham!!!
For a simple (and vintage) pass-around I would also suggest mom's meatloaf.. Sure it's nothing special for the holidays... But from a fellas point of view, it's a reliable dish that will fill me up and (usually) won't be risky towards an upset stomach... Most kids will also dive into it, leaving other more specialized dishes for others to enjoy.... Plus if there are left overs??? Score!!
