The quantity of cloth needed to cover the distance of the individual's body contour, horizontally and vertically- this is where an OTR jacket has no clue
and is "flat".

Interesting to see it explained nicely.

No, if I did that my jacket would be bundled up around my head.

I agree with everyone else about the buttons and belt being a little too high. The armholes could be better, but compared to a lot of modern suits I've seen (including my own, very much!) they aren't terrible. My jacket contorts horribly even if I just try to put my hand in my front pants pockets.

I have had a suit, with an action-back jacket, made through one of those Far East based industries.

Who was the tailoring company that made the jacket?

The belt looks too high.

Most tailors flub the armholes.
Look at these pictures of James Cagney. This is how your jacket should behave as you move your arms.

The body of Cagney's jacket doesn't move as he waves his arms about and reaches up to put his hat on his head!

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread, but what Cagney film is this referencing?
By the way, thanks for these photos. I need to print them out to take with me to the tailors. Easier to show them a picture of what I'm looking for than to describe it.
