That's what struck me! They, and ordinary light-colored flat lace-ups without the two-tone, were everywhere. With socks! Especially with colored and dark socks! Crazy. And girls and women wore them alike. They weren't solely a child, teen, or collegiate thing.

I was also struck by the variety. The summer shots were particularly fully of (what looked) inexpensive cotton print dresses, with a sprinkling of nicer summer frocks and a few suits. There were also very few hats, even to shade from the sun.
