Missing tag

I have what I believe to be a 50's Harley moto jacket. Single pocket. Thin black horsehide with a bit of brown showing through. There is evidence that, at one time, a tag was sewn into its black lining.

Is there a consensus on whether or not it's okay to find another tag and sew it in? Not looking to sell, but someday (if I grow any more) I might, I don't want to commit some sort of faux pas since I am not 100% positive of the jacket's origin.

And if it seems like replacing the label is acceptable, is there a source for vintage or repro ones?

I've seen vintage look reproduction flight jackets labels on eBay.com USA but never these, if you actually find what label it was a sportswear shop that does embroidered tags and labels could do it, I got it done once as they scan the design and the machine does it
