Having grommets installed?

I've got some Akubras like the tablelands that come with grommets installed. I think it's a great feature that make the hat comfortable in hotter weather. I'm interestested in getting the Stetson dune. IDK why none of the Steton's of the outback style seem to have grommets. I was wondering how much it would cost to get them installed? Or if it would generally ruin the hat?

I mean like this Resistol which was made for a Western outfitter in Nevada. I presume it's specifically made for the Nevada climate.

Hello, I see you didn't get any response at all.

I was researching the same and came to your thread.

I have a mexican palm hat which may highly benefit from ventilation which is not at all present.

placing grommets or eyelets in a hat presents the problem that most punch machines are not suited to put a hat through it and that the brim would be in the way of the punching machine ( and rolling the brim wouldn't be a good idea ).

So you or whomever want to do this for you, needs to use a punch tool marking the places before hand.
In case of a pal or Panama hat I think it would be wise to put a drop o glue (Gel superglue?) where you intend to punch the holes..

I have a Stetson Dune which I wear in winter. Nice hat.

I went to see several shops which might have been able to do this for me and it was really disappointing

NOBODY had any solution for the problem and they all indicated each other as a possible source ( it was rather ridiculous at some point).

So the chance to have this done by someone in the NL in my neighbourhood is rather slim

A friend offeren his help but we would have to improvise with his tools to do this and I don't want to ruin a perfectly good hat
