Hat Matching Suit?

Cagney is wearing a back bow fedora. I have seen those here posted by members and on Ebay but I couldn't recall ever having seen one on a movie or on someone in person.

Maybe to complement puts the discussion in a better frame than to say match?

My sense is this is the most satisfying look. Literal matching risks a bland, too 'monochromatic' look. Certainly a gray hat works well, but even a brownish taupe or a dark brown hat looks pretty good with dark blue and gray suits. "What! Brown hat with blue suit?" Yes, I like it.

I'm sure this has been done to death in many threads but being relatively new and diletante, I haven't read them all so I am just risking my opinion. Bash away. Wait. There. OK I'm braced now.
