Most fabric and sewing stores cater primarily to ladies and usually offer little choice in the way of buttons for men's clothing. I recently got a cool set of hacking jacket buttons with fox heads from World of Buttons in the UK. They have a good selection of styles and good prices. They also carry a nice selection of useful gentleman's articles like shaving brushes & bowls, horn-handled cigar cutters, and real horn shoehorns.
