I actually tried a Bermuda shorts business outfit, just for the heck of it, at my then-workplace in San Francisco back in the Eighties. It was a law firm, if you can imagine! (I was a paralegal, not an attorney.) If I am remembering correctly I wore tan shorts that were quite a bit longer than the ones in the picture (and looked correspondingly less dorky and schoolboy-ish); a single-breasted navy blazer; white button-down; rep tie; pocket square; summer hat; tan OTC socks; brown belt; sleek brown loafers. I got a lot a lot of compliments that day.

On of the fellas...

...at a church we used to go to wore a full up Bermuda suit. Pants were appropriately long as shorts, and cuffed. I seem to remember it being glen plaid. Doesn't travel well out of Bermuda.

That guy, with his abbreviated shorts looks makes the outfit look not quite right as Bermuda suits go.

I do like that the seems to have shaved his legs for the occasion. Disturbs the spontaneity somewhat, but what they hey. Maybe he's a swimmer.
