If it is really from the 1950s, I should have thought it would be wool. Was acrylic around then?

Yes, I believe so. A lot of 50's clothing was made from synthetic fibers.

Chic - 70s. Check the top teeth.

From what little I can see of the stop box, it looks like the standard type used from the middle 60s onwards - like a YKK box.

Also, why no image of the label? Maybe it would be indicative of actual age?

Are they claiming that the original paper tab makes it deadstock 1950s? Did they attach labels with those little plastic things in the 1950s?

No that's a recent store label. The maker is, suspiciously, "Super Miami".
