Been making a detachable mouton collar for my Durable « Wild One » Jacket

Hello. I'm new around here and really enjoy most of the good taste here. My English is poor (thanks Google). Yes, I'm French ... This very good idea from Mr Mysteryo reminded me of the one I had when I put pressure on the belt of my old 618. Because I don't don't like the belt to drag when the jacket is open, but I love the belt! Idea taken from the new Perfecto by Schott. I'm about to do the same on my old brown 118. Maybe I would then dare to show off my (small) leather jacket collection ... I hope I didn't appear in an unseen manner. See you later.

After I break in my 618 a little more, I want to send it out and get a few inside pockets added and the snap added to the belt. Then it will be time for a few patches to get sewn on.

View attachment 340193 I’m the lucky owner of 2 59’s Durable jackets, one size 46 in good « worn »condition, and one in size 44 in an excellent condition (leather and hardware still shiny!), this one also has its original detachable faux fur collar.

of course the detachable collar doesn’t fit the size 46, and it’s a small deception to me that it has a synthetic mouton fleece.

So I’ve been planning in my free time, on reproduce this collar for my bigger size jacket and one with a real mouton panel!

that’s the amateur experience in modestly share with you. So please don’t be too harsh, as it’s a trial and errors fun activity . the result is far from perfect but it does the job.

Do you think that this could be designed to be reversible? Like one side is mouton and other side is shearling but it can snap in either way . Please let me know what you think if this is at all possible .

A couple years too late but..GREAT work! Looks Sharp!
I'm looking into making one or two of these myself, have some nice mouton and lambskin or cowhide for the back flaps. Mind if I ask...what type of stitch did you use to attach the mouton to the back leather? I see that it's usually a "whip stitch" when doing it by hand, or by fur machine....and, I've also seen mention of a narrow zigzag, one edge going over the side in order to somewhat replicate a whip stitch. Did you use either of these, or perhaps another stitch pattern?
