1956- the 'new' double breasted

The slender lapels and natural shoulders may have been a new wrinkle in '56, but the 4x2 DB had been around awhile. It was the standard for sporty, patch pocketed/welt edged DB suits since the 20s, because a decorative chest button sewn over a patch ****** pocket looked awful.

horrendous stripes, and i feel sorry for the chap who had to sport that suit for the photo, but it kinda gets the point across.
