1950's? Harris Tweed sport coat with belt

Odd style belt for a sport coat. Almost like a what you see on military coats.

Yep, my first thought was that it had been cut down from an overcoat.

Like Fastuni said, it is very continetal european. Other euro features or scalloped jokes and/or elasticated "halfbelts".
There is a certain transistion between overcoats, jackets and sportcoats and many details go back to traditional costumes, hunting clothes etc.

Did you see this suit not long ago on ebay? The "arrow" triangle on top of the pleat totally looks like a loden coat decoration. But it was an american suit.

I don't always like 'fancy back' jackets but that is a good one. I think it's because the shoulders are so clear of details.
