Wow! too small for me! a bit too much too!

I'd give $1500 for clean one in my size, 42/44! Now one will show up on ebay and call my bluff!

Do you think that is aftermarket work on that jacket, trying to copy the Alden? It is a very different jacket than the Alden.

Yes although I don’t think they were trying to copy Alden’s.

People were customizing jackets/belts etc…from the beginning. I believe it is Alden’s who saw these early customized jackets and wanted to offer a jacket that was already adorned.

I bought that Blatt you identified in the thread. I will post it in the Blatt thread. It is an interesting jacket.

Nice! Would love to see more of it once you get it.

they took from the streets into the factory. It must have not sold in large quantities given they are so scarce?

Did Buco do any special jewel work? I know they sold accessories.

Did Buco every decorate a stock jacket for sale?

That would be a safe assumption to make. I don’t know where Alden’s department stores were located and if they were all over the country, but Alden’s jackets as a whole are kind of rare. It seems not too many were produced based upon how many come up for sale which are not a lot.

Buco sold these kind of studs/beads. I do not believe they sold jackets that are already decorated/studded.

There was a J-27 that a member here bought off of eBay that was studded. In the eBay listing they stated that the stud work was original from the factory. I never believed that. The studs looked different from the ones already on the jacket i.e. the buttons on the collar lapels etc…

The only ones that I’m fairly certain were factory are the small studs on the epaulettes of J-21s. Here’s one of my J-21s to reference what I’m talking about.

Edit

Here’s another J-21 of mine that has studs at the top of the coin pocket that I think are factory.

Here’s my J-1 with some studs at the belt loops that I think are factory.

My buddy from Japan has had his for sale for like two years asking an exorbitant amount of money. It’s not selling.

If this jacket was on auction I’d bet it goes over $1000 but probably not over $1500 (unless someone from Japan sees it as I do believe they’d fetch more over there than here)

Just posting pics of the linked unlabeled Aldens jacket for the thread for future reference when the Mercari link becomes dead—especially to show what the back looks like. Blatt horse label. Really wide lapel. Obviously not mine so no need to come after me with g u n s and knives, guys.

I'm 73 and I do not remember Aldens stores. There is a list of their locations in one of the advertising post above.

I've seen more Aldens in this post than I had. Very few produced.

The standard rivet company sold spots/studs for 136 years in USA, unfortunately they closed down earlier this year. I founded this when I was looking for these particular spot number for my jacket. By the way if someone know where to buy now there please reply back

If you can’t find them in the US (maybe try searching for NOS), JP and the EU still make them. For instance,

Note that the rectangular has no dot in the center.
