I picked this up recently for $35. It was listed as a wool bowler. Has a few moth bites on the crown, but who cares?

A pre-1920 (I think) Stetson No. 1 Quality with The Fray sweatband. Looks like Lot 2879 or 2872. Sold by Frank Felter in Huntington, IN for $4.

Edit: Dang dog hair gets everywhere. Just brushed this, but you can barely tell.

Royal Stetson ******* in Black is my lid for the day. This one has a few differences between my other 6 *******s and I thought I might point them out to see what y'all think.
First off is the most obvious to me...this one has a 1 -1/4" wide grossgrain ribbon hatband whereas all my others are only 3/4" wide.

Second thing I noticed was that the brim of the hat is noticeably thicker and stiffer than all the others. ( The crown of the hat is soft and molds easily without steam).

Last but not least is the lack of the fine stitching around the perimeter of the brim that I have come to expect from a *******.

Interesting *******, certainly breaks the mold a little but i like it. I like that liner too.

Don't be fooled by the sunshine, our weather has been atrocious but this morning the sunshine has made a welcome return, albeit quite cold out. The Stetson Sovereign does the honours and hopefully Amy will let me continue wearing it. Amy is Storm Amy. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3dry34vzvmo

LG Hat 001.JPG

This hat that Gamble & ***n made for me was My first choice but the Sovereign's colour looks better.
Tina loves the colour of the light grey, I must share with you a fabulous surprise that the lady sprung on me.

It's not finished yet but the light grey hat will compliment the shirt perfectly.
How do I know? Tina had to divulge her surprise because she needed
me for a fitting. "Bring that hat," she said, with her lovely cheeky smile.

The spearpoints will face downwards when finished, it's only pinned
together at present, but when finished you will see both hat & shirt
in the sunlight, UK weather permitting.

Thank you Simeon. There’s an interesting story about the Western BRE told to me. I bought it locally here & the seller’s dad & maybe grandfather had started a sale barn just off the stockyards. The BRE belonged to one of their stockyard cowboys, a real old timer. He got hurt working in the pens one day & was never able to return to work. He never came back around to collect his things & this hat stayed in the sale barn for 15-20 yrs, long after the old timer had died.

In hot weather I do that too.... Start out in a heavier felt when it cooler in the early morning and then move to lighter weight hat as it warms up... cant wait for cold weather so I can wear the whole collection

I've done a little reading on here but I'm not too familiar with the Stevens history or how to date this hat, but the labels do look similar to one of your Royalist hats.
I don’t know for sure.. but construction give me 1960s vibes. In the early 70s they got the license for manufacturing Stetson in the US after the Stetson Factories closed. or something close to that timeline.
