Oh really! I thought it was a durable leather for some reason. It sure looks good tho!

Deerskin is certainly a durable leather. Just because it’s less durable than the other three doesn’t mean that it’s not durable…

Out of 100 durability, deerskin is in the 70-80 range. Goatskin 75-85, cowhide 85-95, horsehide above 75. In contrast, lambskin and sheepskin are in the 50-60. What’s what Google AI says.

Durability, yes, but the look of the hide may not be for everyone. I personally avoid goat on any of my Langlitz stuff, regardless, just personal preference for the look as it breaks in over time. Goat is a very high performer, no doubt, but no thanks.

I'm also less than a full-on Goat fan. Guess that means (In Langlitz jackets at least) that I am not a fan.

I've never tried a Thedi with Goat - and I know many here have & love those jackets.

It's just something about the "feel" that is odd to me, and not desirable.

That said many A2 & other vintage military jackets were made of goatskin, in hope to survive the rigors of old planes and flight. So due respect for those indeed.

Why would you disrespect goatskin like that? It’s a beautiful leather and extremely durable, much more so than horse or cow.

In no way, shape, or form that i badmouthed goatskin. As a matter of fact, i have a goatskin jacket on me right now.

Roos hide, on the other hand, is a rare thing to see on a jacket. My interest in leather jackets is to have jackets made out of all different (unique) types of leather, hence the slight disappointment

I misunderstood your post then, many apologies. Sometimes there’s ideas circulating that goat is inferior to horse and I thought you were one of those. I can definitely understand wanting to have jackets from different leathers.

No problem. It’s part of the everyday discussion.

Here’s my Beams+ (made by JL) goatie that i’m wearing today. It’s supple and feel very lightweight even though it’s medium weight in terms of of thickness.
