Indeed, it was a non-surprise surprise to learn that he had passed overnight, after overseeing a balcony set Easter blessing. I'm glad I saw Conclave, as now we outside the fence have a sense of what happens from here.
I appreciated Pope Francis' efforts on behalf of the poor, and his way of speaking to the errant powerful. He also was popular among many Lutherans, whom he made special effort early in his papacy to reach out to.

Haven't seen Conclave, but caught Chicago's Cardinal Blase Cupich grinned Cheshire Cat
smile standing briefly upon papal loggia before Leo's entrance. Message emailed receipt.
Hermeneutic seal broken. Prevost was Chicago precinct ward pick rammed through by Francis' McCarrick St Gallen cardinalate clique. And Tagle, Philippines expatriate pababile
whom later slipped the fisherman ring on Leo's finger, was quite upset that an American emerged as Pope. Seems as though Leo likes his enemies close but he has rolled several heads into the proverbial sawdust. Prevost had email quarrel with an American unnamed here; whose metaphorical avail Aquinas with Ordo Amoris solicit rankled theologians, liberal progressives, and other assorted heretics worldwide. However, even Augustinians sided with Anonymous. In any event, Leo's patrimonial inheritance includes Traditionis Custodes; also Amoris Laetitia, which pose theological Damoclean sword for heresy correction demanded cardinalate dubia eschewed his predecessor.

Inside baseball Conclave Traditional Catholic rumination.
Leo's litmus will be Amoris Laetitia corrective application to his Jesuit predecessor's erroneous doctrinal stray. Theological Tennessee Windage Kentucky Elevation trigger try isn't graded marksmanship. Leo needs to get his zero down exactly. This however diverges what transpired inside the conclave process. Leo wasn't elected on capricious whim but deliberate premeditated reason.

Ok, thanks for that.
Just trying to figure who died.

So you’re saying the old Pope strayed then died and ruminating the new Pope is a bad shot.
Got it!
Interesting last respects.

The Catholic Church is confronting an increasingly relativist lay Western pew and standing against global resistance its religious tenets. The late Pope Francis was a liberal; whom in the traditional sense made far too deep a bow to the secular world.
His successor, Leo XIV is faced with either correcting Francis' doctrinal errors and making pact with traditionals, or siding a liberal wing allowed relaxation of held beliefs.
Either correct exactitude or continued stray.

Wow I thought only Foxtrot Lamont wrote like this. You mean there are others communicating themselves gerund-like uncertainty in what they say?

Makes my brain hurt.

RIP Norm.

About 10 yrs ago Wendt came home to Kansas City for a visit. I bought a ticket & met him on a weekend pub crawl. He might have been the sponsor of the crawl, I can’t remember.

RIP Norm! Gone to young, to soon.
Now that I think back more on it, it wasn’t 10 yrs ago. It was just after the pandemic & things opened back up (2021?). Most of the fun & laughter happened on the bus with Wendt traveling from pub to pub. And I think the pub crawl was organized to help out the pub owners after having been closed for so long, & Wendt was the host.

Musician, songwriter, singer & producer, Rick Derringer, has died aged 77. He has done so much stuff but his group formed in the 60s, The McCoys, is prehaps familiar to many.

Sock it to 'em, Rick

I had the pleasure of seeing him do two sets in a small club here in Dayton (Canal Street Tavern) sometime in the late 90s/early 2000s. Great show. He was a local boy, born in Ft. Recovery, OH. The remainder of the McCoys were from just across the state line in Union City, IN.
