The coming of spring means my wife is entering fanatical-gardener mode, which means I get used a lot for manual labor. That's in addition to all the "usual" on-going work involved in having moved to a 47-year-old house. However, I did manage to get out of the house/yard for almost an entire hour today, View attachment 694974 View attachment 694975 and while out, I sported my newest older fedora.

It's an unnamed model tan Portis, with Swan's Down Finish, that, from labeling, price tag, and general styling, I'd estimate to be from the early to mid 1950s.

Good luck with the gardening Mark, we are lucky enough to have someone keep our garden pruned and tidy.
Your hat is such a striking colour, unusual but most appealing and the slender hatband suits it perfectly.

In today's heat the suit was changed for something less formal once I got home from my appointment.
I thought about a straw but the Gamble & ***n was more in keeping, so I braved the heat.

A fine choice. Heat be damned.

I like your style Joe, another warm day and another customer to visit.

This blazer is an original from 1950. I bought it off a trader at a festival. Tina made some adjustments as it's actually a size too small. What I then needed was a hat. I sent my Milliner a photo of the blazer, and the trousers that Tina made, they came up with a good copy of a period hat.
Seeing Mark's 1950's Portis Tan original yesterday, I'm belatedly impressed with my period hat.

As always true to your style and outfit looks great with a stunning hat in the daylight.

Congratulations, it looks fantastic!
It looks to me like you went for the vintage grosgrain ribbon. Is that the same Midnight Blue as mine, or a brighter blue? I was also pondering matching the brim binding to the ribbon on mine before opting to match it to the felt. I can see now that there was no wrong option. The other difference I see is that mine has a wind trolley. Admittedly, I’ll likely never use it, but I still added it just because I like the look.
Wear it in good health!
