The awning out in front of the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Missouri. The building is 100 years old this year.

The Palace Hotel and Bath House, Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
"1940s -- Sign of the Times Like many hotels of an early era, the PALACE was a bordello.The famous neon sign hanging over the outside front entrance was the first neon sign installed west of the Mississippi River; (purportedly built by the French inventor of neon, Mr. Georges and shipped from France to America, then by rail to E.S. and then by truck to the Palace Hotel.)"

St. James, Missouri. Johnnie’s Bar & Grill has been around as long as I have. I snapped these photos as we were driving by. We did end up going back for the red beans and rice special to-go.

The neon sign on the building was animated and featured a cowboy roping a calf against a western landscape. The sign was purchased from Roy Barnes in the late 1980s and resold to a collector/dealer in Los Angeles.
