I've 8 pairs of boots, some trainers, and summer sandals. Way more than any man needs but I'll keep them as they are all worn over the course of the year but I aim to only replace the trainers as a pair expires. I'm down to 9 jackets/coats. I definitely need to move some of those on but for some reason I always convince myself that I need them. I'd become very disappointed in myself regarding a consumerism attitude and decided I need to do something about it. The FL doesn't help with all the amazing jackets, boots, hats, etc. that people display and I've considered deleting my account but then I'd miss out on a lot of the good conversations that I come across here. I also think I'm a product of my upbringing, where as a child we had to wait if we wanted new clothes and now as an adult in my 50's with a little disposable income I was tending to splash out and treat myself and this spiralled to far too many purchases. Time to changeI was getting ready one evening, trying on stuff & deciding what to wear and one hour in, it hit me - What the hell am I doing!? Listed everything the next day, never looked back.
I've kept all the shoes and boots that I like, which amounts to five and which amounts to all the leather that I will own. I'll keep several pants and four textile jackets that keep me warm on those two months per year and that's that.
