Really digging that *******. On Ebay they have one listed in my size for $250 + $25 shipping. Seems to be the exact model (light blueish grey) and in good shape. Is that a good price for something like this? Being new to hats much less totally ignorant to vintage, I have no idea. What's the crown and brim size btw?

Price - excellent question. Unfortunately I will have to provide a vague answer - it depends. Price is relative to size, condition, desirability and rarity of the hat. This outside of the purchaser's liquidity of monies for hats. I do not think I can advise you on whether it is a good deal. As to fair - you can query Ebay previous sales and screen for size and condition. The above ******* has a 2.5" brim and a bigger 40's-50's crown.

thanks, Eric. Yeah, I figure a new Stetson is about $200 and if they don't make them like they used to  I guess I'll watch a few of these and see what they end up going for to get a better sense. But great tip about looking up previous sales. And following other posts about Gannon recreating this look. I've got a request into him already. So I guess for some more money, I can get exactly what I want and not run the risk of buying used, sizing/picture discrepancies, etc.

Not certain your size, but there's a 7 1.8 in the Classifieds. As for price, it seems that the price for a ******* lately on eBay has been in the $140 - $175 range or so, depending on size. Keep an eye out, though, you can find them for better. I'm lucky enough to have five of them, and the prices I've paid have been...different.

thanks for the info. I'm more of 7 1/4, like 57.75 cm. I don't how vintage hats hold up to sizing over the years. I'm guessing lots of variable on how the hat was stored, treated, climate, etc. but I'm guessing for the most part they're shrinking to some degree.

We seem to have that happen with some of the members here, but it's not my experience. I'm pretty much a dead-on 7 1/4, and I've never purchased a vintage hat in my size that didn't fit pretty well.
