In order to survive the debilitating consequences of employee theft and offset the losses caused by the thieving employee(s), manufacturers and retailers have little choice but to increase prices. In other words, losses from employee theft become a cost of doing business that gets factoring into pricing. Therefore, the next time you experience sticker shock at the price of a new leather jacket, or any other retail product, consider that employee theft likely increased the cost of your purchase.
