[Two Types]

I've just noticed my old tie. I wish it had been big enough to fit properly around my neck. Have you made alterations to it so it can be worn?

Yes, I made a pre-tied tie out of it by sewing a knot and adding an elastic string.

It is perfect for Summer, as it is extremely light-weight.

From the Schneidermeister magazine 1938. Note the elasticated waist and the buttoned pocket just like Fastunis white sports suit.
The caption seems to point out it was some kind of an official pattern for a sport suits of a NS organisation.

PS: Of course this doesn't have to mean it is from the same pattern but they did choose a popular model to make it "official".

Does the text make any mention of what color/fabric the "uniform suit" was going to be?

I got this summer sport-suit from a friend. It was worn by his great-grandfather.
Ca. 1928-1932. The fabric is thick, smooth and slightly shiny. It doesn't appear to be linen, but rather flax. (Edit: I think it is nettle fabric.)
Size is a 38-40 short.

Some Dutch tailoring:

Via the Dutch equivalent of ebay, I bought a collection of pre-war (mostly) clothes.

This one, I posted in the 1930s thread. Featuring a vertical chest pocket and back pockets with zippers.


This has and English label, so it might not be Dutch. Looks 19th century? I think the light brown collar and cuffs have been replaced at some point.


This one looks 19th century too. Definitely Dutch, from northern town Groningen. I like this one. Also has interesting buttonholes, as seen on the third picture.


This jacket remind me a bit of those Romanian ones. It has quite peculiar shoulders too. 1930s perhaps?


Something I noticed on different jackets: an under collar made of the lining material. No Idea about the age on this jacket?


And a few more. All ca. 1950, I think? The right one is marked 1951. The middle jacket has been turned into single breasted.


And then there is also a morning coat and two pairs of morning trousers...

The British jacket looks interesting. I'd like to see more photos. The green coat looks strange, as if it had been converted from something else. It has a military look. I couldn't tell from the label, but is one of the jackets from Lommel? Is that Belgium? It makes me wonder if Netherlands tailoring is a mix of German and French/Belgian influences.

i've never seen that on British 20s-50s jackets before. Fastuni should be able to tell us if he's seen it on German jackets.

The green one, I think is/was been double-breasted. But is missing two buttons. The two left over buttons I think have been moved to make the coat bigger. No idea if it is military...

Indeed. Lommel is just over the border in Belgium. Didn't realize as it sounds Dutch.

Since you mention that the light brown bits seem to have been added at a later time, I'd say that it's just a regular suit jacket of the early teens. There were a lot of experimental styles going on around that time. The interior pocket is interesting: on most British vintage jackets the interior pocket is on the right, but that is on the left. Unless they were common on the left in earlier jackets?

Two Types, I doesn't just have a pocket on the left but it actually has two on the left (one of them a ticket pocket I think, as it is very shallow) and one on the right!

How does this look?

I tucked in those cuffs and already like the jacket a lot better. I'm now quite sure they were tacked on later as I noticed there used to be buttons where the 'normal' fabric ends. They are also very loosely stitched on by hand.

Yes, I have seen collar-undersides made from lining-fabric on German suits. Also on my Greek sportcoat.

The 4x1 button double-breasted jacket is late-30's to mid-50's. Most likely late-40's to early-50's when this style was rather popular.

That jacket is brilliant. I wouldn't wear it but I think it's a great find.

Dostioffsky, that British jacket is cracking. Jackets from the teens and earlier in wearable condition are hard enough to find as it is, which makes it all the more interesting. I think it deserves to be worn - with a repair of the cuff extensions - despite the jacket being so remote from late 20s/ 30s jacket styles. You wear it well in the photo.
Looks like you have a lucky hand in finding vintage clothes!
