Tin Clockwork Postal Van by Märklin
1989 reissue of the original produced in the 1930s which came in kit form back then. This rare piece was a premium from the Märklin Insider Club. Members received a certificate in the mail which entitled them to order this truck from an authorized dealer. The orders were then tallied and only enough to fill the orders were produced. As an added bonus a Deutsche Bundespost phone card featuring the cover art from the 1935 Märklin catalogue was included. Today it's very rare to find this truck still with the original phone card because collecting phone cards was very popular in Europe at the time and reportedly many phone card collectors bought this truck just for the phone card!

This thing is a big solid hunk of metal with rubber tires and battery-operated headlights.

The detail is astounding. There's even a gurney inside.

What a great model with outstanding detail!

My family has been in the funeral business since before the Civil War and rendered motorized ambulance service to their communities until the mid '60s.

You probably already know this but it is model of a 1959 Cadillac Crown Royale built by Superior in Lima, Ohio.

The Crown Royale was Superior's top of the line model.

It's hard to tell by the photograph, but it looks like it is equipped with a Sterling Deluxe Model 30 siren which had a real sweet tone. (Warning-There is sound in the video)

Precision Miniatures, the makers of the 1/18 model also did the hearse version of the '59 Caddy. Currently they have the '66 Caddy ambulance and hearse.

One of our smaller locations had a '59 S & S (Hess and Eisenhardt) Park Row and a '59 Fleetwood 75 limousine as their #1 set of service cars.

The Park Row was a combination that could be quickly converted from a hearse to an ambulance and was the was the only dual purpose vehicle we owned.

The siren was a Federal Dual Tone that was located underneath the hood which greatly impaired its "scream" when wide open.

Both were beasts on the road and wallowed through tight curves at anything other than modest speeds.

Great rides when driven at any speed on straightaways and under 50 mph in gentle curves.

Wish it were mine!
I came upon this beauty while surfing eBay. Unfortunately it's $1,500!!! It's a 1950s vintage handmade control line model of a Fw-190 that actually flies. Thought I'd preserve the pics before it disappears from eBay. According to the description it was originally made by a WWII vet for his son who is deceased.
